I could see you holding your allroad’s airbags up with zipties.

Iused 2 pairs to hold on a rock shield and a pair on the other side to hold down some wire after after its tie down bolt sheared off

Back in 1999 when I had a 240k mile 1984 Jetta, I got overzealous and tried to do a thermostat replacement; the bolt head sheared off. I tried extracting it... and the extractor sheared off.
So I tightened a little C-clamp over the tab of the thermostat housing and limped it around until I could get into my mechanic, who was able to get it out with a Vise Grip.

That is a wonderful reference that I’m not sure how many people will get. Quite possibly my favorite scene.

I zip tied someone’s bumper back on for them. Evidently I did too good of a job. They decided to not get it fixed. Should have taken pictures. Ah well.

Our Trailblazer’s front bumper was ziptied on for years.

They are also really good for holding fender liners in place.

This is timely. I did a lot of work on my car over the weekend. One of the bolts on an EGR hose sheared off, so it is currently held on with a zip tie and wire.

I replaced an OEM plastic bolt doohicky that holds my rear bumper in place twice after they fell out. I think it was just badly designed. The zip tie has held for 500% longer. Fixed is fixed.

yeah. fixed. for now. ever find an old pack of zip ties? ever tried to use those old zip ties? then had EVERY single one snap. zip ties have a shelf life. you dont want to be cruising around one day and have this forgotten repair fail, fuel pump bouncing along the pavement.
spend the money. use a hose-clamp.

Friend had to use one of his shoelaces to tie down his battery to do his track day. I was actually surprised only a shoelace was needed.
